Destination Texas Expo Casting Clinics

For all you casters out there. Want to take your fly casting to another level? Improve distance or accuracy? Learn to cast from a kayak, and so much more? Then you must attend the Texas Council’s Destination Texas Expo this May and take some of these high level casting classes. Classes on Friday, all day Saturday, and Sunday. One class that will help everyone will be Joe Libeu’s class on Developing a Better Backcast. Joe is the owner of Sierra Pacific Fishing Adventures, a California Guide, a Master Casting Instructor and on the Casting Board of Governors with the IFFF. He has also been awarded the following casting instructor awards: the Pauline C. Cathcart Memorial Flycasing Award from the Pasadena Casting Club, the J. Stanley Lloyd Order of the Mayfly Award from the Sierra Pacific Flyfishers, the Ed Thomas Memorial Trophy from the Long Beach Casting Club and the first Mel Krieger Instructor of the Year Award from the International Federation of Fly Fishers.

Workshop: “Developing A Better Backcast”
Description: This Class will focus on the development of a better back cast through exploring your casting style, casting fundamentals, casting drills and focused practice.

Skill Set: All levels
Equipment: Rod, reel, line/leader, yarn fly, hat and eye protection.

Waco Fly Fishers Meeting

If you live near Waco, come to their next fly fishing meeting on the Baylor campus. I will be sharing my secrets on fishing the Brazos River. Many years ago, I made the Brazos my home, and forever changed my fishing. March 10. Meeting starts at 7, with fly tying before at 6pm. The actual location on campus is the Baylor Science Building. From I35 head east on University Parks and turn right onto Bagby. Stay on Bagby until 2nd and turn right onto 2nd. Turn into the first driveway on your right and park. The Science Building is in sight.

IF4 Film Show New Braunfels, Texas May 29, 2015

Exciting News!! Exclusive to Texas. The International Federation of Fly Fishers and the Texas Council will be hosting the showing of the IF4 Film Show in New Braunfels on Friday May 29, 2015 at 6pm. Spend the day at the Expo, enjoy some snacks and drinks before attending the show. This show ill NOT be shown anywhere around Texas THIS year. Not to be confused with the FilmTour that will be shown several times around the state. The ONLY time you can see this show in Texas is on the 29th in New Braunfels.

Texas Councils hosts “Destination Texas – All Fish All Waters”

Ok all, time to put this year’s Texas Council’s Expo on your calendars. May 29-31, with casting workshops on the 28th.

Presentations on Friday, all day Saturday, and more on Sunday. IF4 Film which will be exclusive to this show, tying demonstrations, auction, kayak raffle, banquet dinner with speaker, women’s programs and brunch!! Casting lesson, vendors. Youth on the river programs. So much to do.

Bring the family!! Bring the scout troop, or kids organization. New Braunfels has so much to do.
