The Laguna Madre Fly Fishers of Corpus Christi (LMFFCC) is a small but active Charter Club of the International Federation of Fly Fishers. Located on the Texas Coastal Bend, our home waters are the local salt water bays, estuaries, beaches, and jetties where red fish, speckled trout, flounder, jacks, and even tarpon abound.
We meet once a month at 7:00 PM on the second Thursday at the Carlos Truan Natural Resource Center on the campus of the Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi. Usually, we have a speaker to complement our discussions of fishing reports and activity planning. The meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcomed.
One challenge in fly fishing the Texas coast is the constant wind. To continually upgrade our capabilities and to introduce new fishers to our sport we host a monthly fly casting clinic the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Roy’s Bait and Tackle Outfitters (a local fishing institution) that is free and open to all. Club casting instructors and equipment are available to coach someone picking up a fly rod for the first time, as well as helping more experienced fly fishers improve their casting in our windy conditions.
We normally schedule one or more activities each month, sometimes it is a chili cook off, fly fishing outing, or Bay Day community outreach. You can keep up with the detail schedule, meeting times and locations, and all our activities with the Club web site —
