Texas Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers News

Hope all is well in Texas and you are enjoying this fall season, catching plenty of fish!! Near the end of each year, the Council has elections for the Board of Director’s positions. It is in our by laws, and this year is no different. The Texas Council has been very well represented by our amazing volunteers. It is time to find the future volunteers, who will serve our Council and State. If you are interested in representing our state, and region, then volunteer to be part of a group that has exciting plans for 2015 and beyond.
Listed below are the current Board of Directors positions, and who has currently requested to be on the ballot. Anyone can request to be on the board, and your name will be on the ballot. With that being said, anyone can help our cause in a variety of other different ways. If you wish not to be on the board, and just want to help, please let us know. Many, many ways in which you can help.

  • Put May 29-31 on your calendar, as the Texas Council will be having our 2nd Expo, in New Braunfels, TX. We will continue to educate Texans on the many ways to fly fish in Texas. “Destination Texas” will focus on “All Fish, All Waters!!!” This will be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday show, with plans for exciting activities throughout the weekend. Keep up with the Expo on Facebook, or http://txflyfishexpo.com/.
  • How many of you anglers spend your time fishing in rivers? Before the days of big dams storing water and providing electricity, TP&WD and anglers spent all of their time fishing and supporting our river systems. Times have changed, and they are more fishing options than ever before. However, if you are like many of us, rivers are so special to us, and access to these prime locations is something we pursue. Well we have exciting news for you, and need your help. The Texas Council is currently looking for ways to get new access to the rivers we love to fish. Please share with us locations that you know of that might become a new river access location that we could all enjoy. Stay tuned for more exciting news.
  • Want to advertise a special event in your area, or by your club? Looking for that something to do? Want to plan an event, and don’t want that event to interfere with something else? Then check out the “New” Texas Council Website Calendar. Still relatively new, the calendar will be the most efficient way to communicate events from clubs all over the state.   https://texascouncilffi.com/events-calendar/.
